Pie Fail – Point England Bakery

What’s going on Aucklanders.

Today I went to Point England Bakery. As I sat down with my $5 steak and cheese pie (the lowest price I’ve seen in a while), I was ready to devour.

However, the pie completely fell apart. As soon as I picked it up I knew it wouldn’t hold, and after two bites, boiling hot gravy was burning my hands as I chucked the pie face down onto the bag (pictures tell the story).

I drove home hangry, almost crashing four times from being drawn to the pie that I couldn’t wait to eat.

But it wasn’t a complete fail. Although I had to wait to eat it with a knife and fork, it tasted very good. It had a very unique flavour and it tasted ‘home made’ which I liked. The gravy was not jelly at all and had onions in it which added some nice depth.

That’s about it, though. The steak was very fatty and chewy, and although the pastry tasted good, what good is a pie that falls apart as soon as you start eating it?

Maybe I will have to go back again to see if I got a dud since my girlfriend’s one seemed to hold up okay.

Thanks for reading, hope everyone is well!
